Journalists' detention period extended for the second time

ANKARA - The detention period of 11 journalists detained as part of the Ankara-based investigation has been extended for the second time.
 
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, during the house raids carried out yesterday morning, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) Editor-in-Chief Diren Yurtsever, MA reporters Deniz Nazlım, Selman Güzelyüz, Berivan Altan, Hakan Yalçın, Emrullah Acar and Ceylan Şahinli, JINNEWS reporters Habibe Eren, Öznur Değer and journalist Mehmet Günhan, who worked as a trainee reporter in the Ankara office of MA for a while, was taken into custody.
 
After the journalists were detained, a decision was made to restrict the file to the lawyers. In addition, a 24-hour lawyer ban was imposed on the file due to "the nature and the classification of the crime". The prosecutor's office once again extended the detention period of 11 journalists for 24 more hours.
